Billboard Latin Music Awards Rely On Shure Wireless Systems
Shure Inc. in Niles, Ill., reports that the producers of this year’s Billboard Latin Music Awards used Shure products exclusively for the telecast and live-sound production of the event, including several wireless microphone and personal monitor systems. The event was held on April 26 in the 8,000-seat BankUnited Center in Miami, Fla., and was broadcast live to 2.4 million viewers by Telemundo.

Black Box Analog Design announces the Black Box Microphone Preamplifier ($2,500 MSRP). Handcrafted in Ventura, Calif., the Black Box mic pre was designed by Eric Racy and Robert Wainscott, who implemented an entirely analog audio path; custom, hand-wound Cinemag input and output transformers; hand soldered point-to-point wiring; independently controlled Pentode and Triode tube stages (as well as independent Pentode/Triode “Tone Boost†switches; a 350-volt linear power supply; and the ability to shape the frequency response without the use of an EQ.

Shure Announces Winners of the 2012 Fantastic Scholastic Recording Competition

Women’s Audio Mission Receives NEA Art Works Grant to Support Girls on the Mic Project
National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Rocco Landesman named Women's Audio Mission (WAM) in San Francisco as one of 788 not-for-profit national, regional, state, and local organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. Women’s Audio Mission is recommended for a grant to support “Girls on the Mic,†the organization's project that trains and mentors more than 400 middle and high school girls a year in music production and the recording arts.
