I have a Sony Rm-D800, I am trying to find out if it can be used with my Tascam Recorders for control of them and if so what cables will be needed to complete my task. Any help would be appreciated. I have sync cables for the recorders my question is about the Sony to the DA-88. Thanks

Joe

Yes. The Sony RMD-800 remote is a clone of the Tascam RC-848 remote. The Sony remote was designed to work with the Sony PCM-800, which was a clone of the Tascam DA-88. The PCM-800 is functionally identical to the DA-88 except for: it has balanced XLR in/outputs; the digital out is AES, and the stop and play buttons are reversed on the front face.

I'll be honest, I had forgotten, so I googled it. (First hit was on this very web forum, but not about this exact issue):

Another hit was a thread on a forum, in which someone actually used an EPROM chip from a RC-848 in a RM-D800, so they've got to be identical:

As for the remote cable,

The cable for the remote is Cable Up part # PW848, or the longer version is PW848L. (Cable Up is a division of Tascam.)
