Does anyone know where I can find a TDIF 25-pin to 1/4" cable. I saw one on Proco's site but it doesn't tell you how to order one. GC, sweetwater, zZounds none of them carry them. I saw an XLR to tdif on ebay but would like to find 1/4" if possible. I have a DA7 with 3 TDIF cards and My FW-1884 or Alesis AI-3 does nott have TDif. Which is strang that the Tascam doesn't heh. Thanks for any assistance.

You've made a common mistake. You're confusing two uses for the same connector. TDIF is Tascam's Digital InterFace. It uses one (25-pin) DB25 connector to send eight channels of digital audio out AND eight channels in.

But that DB25 is also used by many manufacturers (including Tascam) for analog audio. In this case it is just carrying 8 channels in one direction. The difference is crucial because they are NOT interchangeable. (It's annoying and confusing.)

TDIF cables are all 25-pin DB25-to-DB25. Analog DB25 breakout snakes come in many flavors at the other end, including XLRF, XLRM, TRS etc.

Your DA7's TDIF cards can only send digital audio to/from another device which specifically has a TDIF jack. To interface via analog, you'll have to convert it first.

I found this on Proco's site ... http://www.procosound.com/multitrackindex.htm ... Will this not work? Tho I can't find anyone that carries it. Not sure what any of my other options are less I find someone looking to trade TDIF for ADAT or analog cards. I can't even finds anyone selling an adat card let alone an analog one. Any advice?

The proco DB25-1/4" snakes would not work. Since you do not have any DTRS (tape-based) recorders, I'd advise getting ADAT cards for your DA7.

Try posting a "Want To Buy" on the DA7 users' forum (I see you've been there...). Or call Mir at 714-992-0984. He might have ADAT cards for sale.

They do come up for sale on EBay sometimes. I just bought some for my DA7 last year. Set up an EBay alert which will tell you when someone lists a new auction which matches your needs.

Here's one that sold in May for $166.01:

In fact, I found that the better bargain is to buy an entire DA7 which comes with ADAT cards. Then you can link your 2 DA7s or keep one for parts.

NM I called Proco that's not a Tdif cable. They don't make one.... I'll just wait til I run across an Adat card or an analog card which is what I want more than any of them. I guess these Tdif cards have no value cuz noone seems to want them.
