RJ-45 Ethernet Cable Wiring Diagram
Here's a reference chart for wiring Category 5 (Cat 5) ethernet cables for 10/100 BaseT. When buying raw cable, note that for Gigabit Ethernet, you may need Cat5(e). For further detail on Cat5, Cat5e and Cat6, read this wikipedia article.
For parts and tools, try these links... Get deals on prewired and bulk ethernet cable (search for "bulk"). Search for Cat 5 cable, Cat5(e) cable or RJ-45 connectors (8 pin). Don't forget the 8-pin RJ-45 crimping tool. Technically, the connectors are 8P8C modular, often incorrectly referred to as "RJ-45", "RJ 45", or RJ45".
