The DA-45HR is the first 24-bit DAT recorder. It achieves this storage capacity on a standard DAT tape by increasing the speed of the tape significantly (roughly double 16 bit speed).
In the first software version, the time did not display correctly when in "24 bit (high Resolution)" mode. A new sofware version (chip upgrade) fixes this. Make sure that the display shows an asterix (*) next to the ABS time readout, or it will not be "real time." This is selectable as a standard menu item. |

A newly discovered bug involves using the DA-45 with external converters. In some decks, the word clock output is inturrupted at mode changes (stop, rew, etc). This can cause a loud "pop" when the external converter loses its clock source. This is currently (4/2000) being worked out and I'll post the findings here.
